Thomas Brunner

This is my Thomas Brunner slide. You had to research facts about him like major accomplishments impact on the west coast early life and family. It was quite interesting to do this I learnt a lot. It took a while to do it but it was worth it.

goal setting

This week we had to do some goal settings. You had to chose  some goals for reading writing and maths. My goal that I want to complete the most is my maths goal (know all my basic facts) My key competency goal is to listen to others and build on there ideas.

Animals at War

This is my slide that I did about Animals at War for Anzac day. You had to chose 1 Animal out of 6 to chose from. I chose cats because I had no idea what they were used for. Turns out after little research cats were used to catch rats and mice and they also were the solders friends. I really liked this activity because I reflected on the people who die in ww1 and ww2.

west coast slide

This is my west coast new Zealand slide. We got given this slide that had some questions about the west coast like how long the west coast is and how many people live in the west coast. It was a good activity to do because I learnt a lot about the west coast. It took a while to do but it was quite easy to do.

maths dlo

The past few weeks we have been learning how to
carry numbers like 5/10 would equal 50. Its just 5x10 or 5x5x5x5x5x5x5x5x5x5 2/2 would be 2x2 or 3/7 would be 3x7 or 7x7x7, do you get it?  Before I new this I thought carrying numbers was really hard but I know now that it is not.

reflection of this term

This term has been a really good term but there are some things I didn't like about it. First I'll start with the thing I did like about this term. First of all I learn a lot of things this term mostly maths. This term has also been really fun with fitness and learning outside and inside the class room. I hope next term we will do more things outside the class room. This term has been a really good term apart from one bad thing... Most of the boys don't listen to instructions. Like if Mrs P says to sit on the mat or something they don't do it then Mrs P gets mad at them and the day is mostly ruined. Next term I would like the kids to be better behaved. Apart from that this term has been a really good one.

Financial Literacy

The past few weeks we have been doing this activity called financial literacy. First we got this sheet that you had to write what cars you want when you are older how many kids you want and if you want a wife or not. Then we got card that had your weekly income, your tax and your mortgage. Then you got a groceries card and a fortune card with the fortune card you got a random situation like your car broke down or your lawnmower stopped working then you take the money of your income. You do that for 3 weeks. On the 4th week you had to pay for Sky TV your insurance and power. Once you did that if you were in debt you have to put your account to 0$ from your savings account (you have $2000 in your savings to begin with). With me I was in debt by $900 because I had to have a root canal for $700. So now I only have $1000 in my savings account. I like this activity because it prepares you for the real world.

What I want when I'm older.
                 My income sheet.

                          My savings.

We are going to do another month of this programme next term.  I hope I don't end up in debt again!

After a few hours we scooped the pumpkins out of its skin,  put the pumpkins in a blender and hey presto! You have some delicious pumpkin soup.

book review

The darkest minds by Alexandra Bracken.

The book is about this 16 year old girl named Ruby who when she was 10 she got a disease which only kids can get that gave her special abilities like most of the kids her age But then she is taken from her parents and sent to this camp that  they keep all the kids and make them do horrible work for them. But then Ruby escapes with some random people she dose not know. Will she make it? Will she get caught? Read this book to find out.

This book it a really good book, its for readers that are used to big chapter books. Its a book that puts you on the edge of your seat its so good. Once you read it your would want to read more lucky there are 3 books in the series so it will keep you busy for a while. Current Events

This week apple released 3 new services which were apple arcade, apple news and the one everyone has been talking about apple TV+.  Apple arcade is an online gaming service that, of course, you will need to pay for. That goes for all the services.

I think its just another way for apple to get more money. The services may be good and convenient but its just another way of the biggest technology company to get more green cash!

face art

A few weeks ago we went on this website called faceyourmanga we had to make a profile picture that looked like are self's. The teacher then printed out the faceyourmanga profile but with Squares on it.   Then we got given a big piece of paper with big Squares, we had to draw each Square on the big piece of paper then we put vivid over the pencil then painted it and here it is. It took a while to do but it was worth it. It was kinder hard to do but it was fun.

My Visual Mihi

A few weeks ago we had to make a Visual Mihi, we started with a slide, then we put our names, our mountains and the places we were born in maori. Then after we did that we had to take pictures of our self and are family.

It was fun and pretty easy to do. I think I did a pretty good job of it.

Next time I will add more photos and more information about me.
Do you create visual mihi at your school?

                                                      This is my Visual Mihi.

My Teddy Bear Poem

This is my teddy bear poem. First I had to choose an object out of a small container. I chose a small pink teddy bear. Then we had to go on this google doc and write down 40 adjectives about my teddy bear. Once I did that I had to chose 20 of those adjectives and put them in this web site called note.ly and make a poem out of those 20 words and here it is. I found this pretty fun and cool to do, I would do it again.

current events

This week in the news some school kids are striking from the Hutt valley high school. Because they are protesting because they want the government to do something about climate change. Some people say that they are striking to get a day of school, but the students say that is not the case. I think it is a good thing that they are protesting for climate change as long as they don't get in trouble with the police, its fine with me.

Luckily / Unluckily story

One day I was in a car with my mum. Unluckily there was a cat on the road, my mum swerved to miss it. Luckily we didn't die.

Unluckily we went in the water but luckily the car randomly floats.

Unluckily we hear the jaws theme starting to play. Luckily we don't see a shark YET.

Unluckily the car starts to sink. Luckily the jaws theme stops.

Unluckily we see a shark. Luckily it hasn't eaten us yet.

Unluckily it breaks into the car and eats us. Luckily my mum has knife and she cuts through the shark and it dies.

Unluckily we are running out of oxygen. Luckily we carry oxygen tanks in the car.

Unluckily the shark is not dead and it tries to chase us. Luckily we escape and get back home.

Unluckily the drama hasn't ended...              Image result for shark

What's Been in the the News This Week?

This week Air New Zealand has been in the news because they will be dropping some prices of domestic routes up to 50 percent. This means if you are flying within new Zealand it will be a lot cheaper. Air New Zealand has also been looking for ways to make more people fly domestically.

I think it is a good thing that they are going to drop the price because if you are a local and you want to fly to say Christchurch, it would be a lot cheaper to fly.  This is a much quicker way to get to Christchurch.

What do you think about the new prices?

This week's news!

This week in the news, Auckland has been removing lime scooters because a common issue has been going around. The front breaks randomly lock up causing people to get injured really badly like broken bones, head injures and more.

Lime is investigating the problem and if they don't fix the issue the Auckland Council will ban the scooters. They are going to make a decision today.

I think they should ban the scooters because people aren't being safe like not wearing helmets and sometimes people even ride together! Plus there is a chance of the front break of locking up.

Although they are convenient I would just stick to riding a bike!

What do you think?

What's Been in the News this Week...

This week in the in the news it said that New Zealand Police are spending 20.7 million dollars on new body armour. They say it is lighter, stronger and has more protection.

Some people are not happy about it. Some people think that the 20.7 million dollars could of been spent elsewhere. But I think it is a good thing because the police have one of the most dangerous jobs. They are putting their lives in danger and they don't do it for the money either, they do it to keep people safe so they should have the extra protection from gun shots and other things.

Next I hope the new Zealand police next get body cameras so they can have evidence for crime scenes.
